When first building a reciprocal roof it's best to experiment close to the ground, tying the rafter ends with bits of baler twine,
and then try a little test; be cautiously careful.
The bark from the Douglas fir poles is removed. It comes off easily, all slippily smoothly drippily moist, if the sap is rising when the tree is felled.
